The SmartMOVE project focuses on raising awareness and educating employers and employees about the importance of sustainable mobility for both themselves and the local community. The Slovenian Employers’ Association g.i.z., in cooperation with its experienced Norwegian partner, the Nordland Research Institute is developing educational workshops on sustainable mobility for companies. The main aim is to enable participants to identify the negative impacts of their commuting choices in an interactive and personal way, for example by introducing examples of how to measure the personal carbon footprint of mobility.

Specialised trainings will be provided for organizations involved in the project: the Ljubljana University Medical Centre, the BTC area, IKEA Slovenija d.o.o., Studio Moderna d.o.o. and the Ljubljana Marshes Landscape Park area. Managers will be given an in-depth insight into the benefits of managing employee mobility and the options available, while awareness of employees as users of sustainable mobility measures will be strengthened. The training is an important support for the implementation of the measures foreseen in the mobility plan. After the trainings ZDS, d.d. will be at service to the companies representatives for individual counselling, should they show interest.

In addition to the specialised trainings, free educational workshops will be prepared and executed for a wide range of interested companies, discovering different thematics and examples of good practice in Slovenia and abroad. To promote the use of alternative forms of transport to the private car and to encourage companies to change their mobility habits, both the trainings and the collection of good practices will be published online for streaming. To make the tranings more engaging, a number of promotional and educational videos will be prepared by IPoP – Institute for Spatial Policies in cooperation with the lead partner RRA LUR.
