The Regional Development Agency of the Ljubljana Urban Region (RRA LUR), in cooperation with BSC Kranj, hosted the partners of the ReMOBIL project from the Viken region and the Nordland Research Institute (NRI) as a partner of the SmartMOVE project, from May 23rd to the 25th. The event included plenary meetings of both projects and a tour of good practices, taking place in Bohinj, Bled, Kranj, and Ljubljana with the participation of local stakeholders.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first day of the visit was dedicated to seperate plenary sessions for the ReMOBIL and the SmartMOVE project<\/strong> as well as the review of previous project activities to prepare future project content. The partners of the SmartMOVE project defined key principles for changing the travel habits of employees, while the ReMOBIL project meeting focused on key projects in the field of environment, space, and infrastructure in partner regions, with an emphasis on presenting good practices from various regions. Special consideration was given to the field of (sustainable) mobility and spatial planning in Maribor, as well as the introduction of public transport in Pohorje and the integration of passenger transport and cycling tourism products in Koro\u0161ka and Gorenjska.<\/p>\n

The following day included a field visit to observe good practices in traffic management in local environments in Gorenjska<\/strong>. Klemen Langus from Bohinj Tourism<\/strong> presented the challenges and measures for directing tourist traffic flows, aiming to improve the quality of life for the local population. In Bled, the partners were greeted by Mayor Anton Me\u017ean<\/strong>, Romana Purkart from Bled Tourism<\/strong> then explained the options for traveling with public transport for visitors of Bled and its surroundings. In Kranj, at the Kova\u010dnica, Jaka Hrastnik from AMZS<\/strong> presented the NOMO application, while Toma\u017e Lani\u0161ek from the Municipality of Kranj<\/strong> explained their efforts in the field of sustainable mobility as part of the mission for 100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030.<\/p>\n

On the final day of the meeting, the partners of both projects participated in a study tour of Ljubljana<\/strong>. Klemen Gosti\u010d from RRA LUR<\/strong> presented the state before and after the renovation of the center of Ljubljana. The condition of the main bus and train stations and Masarykova Street was compared by the partners with a model of the planned new bus and train station at the City Hall. Furthermore, a meeting was held with representatives from the Directorate for Transport Policy at the Ministry of the Environment, Climate, and Energy, who presented the Transport Development Strategy in the Republic of Slovenia by 2030 and the laws related to the management of public passenger transport, comprehensive transport planning, alternative fuels in public transport, and the cycling strategy of Slovenia.<\/p>\n

The partners from the Viken County Council, reflecting on their three-day visit to the Gorenjska and Ljubljana urban regions, highlighted several aspects that impressed them<\/strong>, including the planning of sustainable mobility in rural areas, specifically in the Triglav National Park area, and the integrated pricing of public bus transport in tourism service packages, as they also face similar challenges. They also acknowledged the centralized data collection of services, arrivals and departures, and occupancy of intercity public transport for the development of an application that will allow the purchase of tickets for public transport. In the city center of Ljubljana, they recognized some transferable practices for urban center management and proposed improvements to optimize and enhance the usability of the public transport system in the City of Ljubljana and beyond.<\/p>\n<\/div>
